Viña Del Mar, Chile December 1, 2002
Half way !!.
Half of the time set aside for this journey has now been spendt ,making it proper to do a status of how far we have actually come.
We have by now travelled 36000 Km by car, equal to driving around the Earth at Equator, or the same distance as the geostationary TV satellites are orbiting the Earth.
5000 liters of diesel has been consumed at a cost varying between
2 Dkr(Equador) and 7 Dkr(Belize) per liter.
Since we originally planned to drive somthing like 65000 Km to 70000 Km during the whole tour and consume around 10000 liters of diesel, we are still pretty much on the plan.
Only another 36000 Km to go and 5000 liters of diesel to burn :-).
Plans for the next month. Humbold Pinguins at the coast of Chile.
Our beloved LandCruiser has been scheduled for departure to Sydney on December 8.th.
This time it's a real long journey, 25 days, allowing us to explore the Pacific ocean in the mean time.
We have booked at tour to Easter Island (Rapa Nui), Tahiti (Bora Bora) and New Zealand (Auckland) before heading to Sydney where we expect to arrive around January 6.th.
Our original plan was to celebrate X-mas in New Zealand and New Year in Sydney but this has been influenced by the fact that we are approaching the local summer holiday and most flights are fully booked weeks in advance.
So, we are stucked here until December 11.th, which is not too bad.
